Biography: Oil and Gas

Gavin is managing partner of Allens Arthur Robinson's Singapore office and the head of the firm's South East Asia practice. Gavin provides legal and strategic advice in connection with major oil and gas, resources, energy and infrastructure projects.

Gavin has advised governments, major petroleum producers, resource companies, power companies, financiers and multilateral agencies on the development and financing of projects (including LNG projects and gas to power projects), the sale and acquisition of assets and the preparation of legislation regulating the oil and gas and electricity industries. His recent project experience covers Indonesia, China, Mongolia, Vietnam, Korea, Singapore, Australia, Thailand, Malaysia, the Philippines, Cambodia and Guinea.

Gavin also has an active public international law practice advising governments and oil companies on international boundary disputes. For over 10 years Gavin has led an international legal team assisting the Royal Government of Cambodia with the resolution of its overlapping maritime claims with Thailand. This has involved the delimitation of a maritime boundary as well as the negotiation of a joint development regime. He has also advised on the Australia/East Timor, Brunei/Malaysia, Indonesia/Malaysia and Vietnam/PRC, maritime boundary disputes among others. An article written by Gavin in this area is 'International Boundary Disputes and Cross-Border Unitisation - Legal and Strategic Issues', published in the AMPLA (the Resources and Energy Law Association) 2003 Yearbook.

Gavin is a member of the Association of International Petroleum Negotiators and is admitted to practice in England and Australia.
