Robert MacFarlane is a partner with Bereskin & Parr and head of the firm's litigation practice group.

Robert is a registered patent agent in both Canada and the United States and a registered trademark agent in Canada. He has practised litigation in patent, trademark, copyright and confidential information cases for almost 30 years. He has appeared in the Ontario Superior Court, the Ontario Court of Appeal, the Federal Court of Canada, the Federal Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court of Canada, as well as before numerous administrative tribunals.

Robert is consistently recognised as a leading IP litigator in publications such as The Canadian Legal Lexpert Directory and PLC Which lawyer?. He is the author of a number of published articles and of a chapter in the book, Intellectual Property Disputes: Resolutions & Remedies, volume 2 (Thomson Carswell). In 2007, The International Who's Who of Patent Lawyers, named Robert as one of four top patent lawyers in Canada. Robert was also selected to appear in the 2008 and 2009 editions of The Best Lawyers in Canada in the area of IP law.
