Jorge Llevat is a partner in the Spanish law firm of Cuatrecasas and head of the intellectual property group of the firm.

He is highly regarded as a specialist in the IP and IT fields. His clients in those areas include leading companies, both Spanish and multinational, in a broad variety of areas, from food and beverage to clothing and pharmaceutical companies. In the area of information technology he has been leading counsel in some of the most important outsourcing transactions that have taken place in Spain in recent years.

Mr Llevat holds a law degree from the University of Barcelona and a Master of Laws from the University of Chicago. He has practised law in Spain as well as in the US and France. He has been a member of the Barcelona Bar Association since 1986, and of the New York Bar since 1988. He is an arbitrator of the WIPO Mediation and Arbitration Center and also a member of associations such as INTA, AIPPI, Marques, and the Licensing Executive Society.

He has authored numerous publications in the fields of intellectual property and is a frequent lecturer at national and international conferences on those subjects, most recently "Double registration of identical trademarks: legal certainty in trademark law" (AIPPI, Barcelona, February 2, 2006), "Updates on the Regime of Pharmaceuticals in Spain" (co-author, The International Pharmaceutical Review 2006 Conference Edition), Patent Litigation, Jurisdictional Comparisons (Spanish chapter, general editors Thierry Calame and Massimo Sterpi, The European Lawyer 2006), "Global IP: Making Cross-Border Arbitration Effective" (panellist, American Bar Association, 12 December 2006).
