Biography: Corporate Immigration

Marketa Lindt, counsel with Sidley, primarily advises clients on workforce strategy and visa processing for foreign national employees. Increasingly, her practice has focused on counselling companies in defending against government workplace enforcement actions and developing policies to avoid employer sanctions. Ms Lindt represents a range of clients, including US and multinational corporations, educational institutions, health-care facilities, non-profit organisations and high net-worth individuals before the various immigration agencies of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), the Department of Labor (DoL) and the Department of State (DoS).

In 2001, the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA) presented Ms Lindt with its national Joseph Minsky Young Lawyers Award, an annual award given to a young attorney who has made the most contributions to the field of immigration law.

Currently, Ms Lindt serves as a national liaison between AILA and the DHS Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency. From June 2005 to June 2006, Ms Lindt served as elected chair of AILA's Chicago Chapter and served on AILA's national board of governors. She has served on numerous other national AILA government liaison and committee posts. She is past chair of the Chicago Bar Association immigration and nationality law committee. She has appeared a number of times on television, radio and print regarding developments in immigration law. She is a member of the leadership council of the Midwest Immigration and Human Rights Center and serves in an advisory capacity to numerous community organisations in the Chicago area. Ms Lindt regularly speaks at national and regional conferences and has written a number of articles on immigration law and practice.
