Biography: Aviation

Peng is a partner of the aviation group and has been involved in handling aviation claims for 17 years. Peng joined Clyde & Co in July 2005 through the merger with Beaumont and Son. Prior to joining Clyde & Co, she had worked in Beaumont and Son's office in Singapore from 1994 to 1998 and returned to work in London in 1998. In January 2005 she relocated back to Singapore.

Peng is recognised in Who's Who Legal, the Guide to the World's Leading Aviation Lawyers and Chambers UK as a leading practitioner in her field. She is a vice president international affairs of the International Aviation Women's Association.

Major loss experience includes Adam Air accidents in Sulawesi and Surabaya, Indonesia (2007); Mandala Airlines accidents in Medan (2005) and Tarakan, Indonesia (2006); China Airlines accident in Hong Kong (1999); Air Fiji accident at Viti Levu, the Fiji Islands (1999); Korean Airlines accident near Stanstead, England (1999); Formosa Airlines accident near Hsinchu, Taiwan (1998); China Airlines accident at Taipei (1998); Vietnam Airlines accident in Phnom Penh (1997); Bangladesh Biman accident near Sylhet, north Bangladesh (1997); SilkAir accident near Palembang (December 1997); Garuda A300 accident near Medan, Indonesia (1996); Malaysia Airlines accident in East Malaysia (1995).

Aside from major loss activities, Peng also provides advice on contractual and regulatory matters to carriers and handles general passenger, cargo and baggage claims for a number of Asian carriers. She also has extensive litigation expertise in Asia, Europe and Central Africa.

Peng instructed on behalf of China Airlines in the Deep Vein Thrombosis and Air Travel Group Litigation which went before the UK House of Lords, where the airlines prevailed. She was also the instructing solicitor in the leading Canadian DVT case, McDonald v Korean Air, which went before the Ontario Court of Appeal.

Peng qualified as a Solicitor in England and Wales in 1993 and was admitted to the Malaysian Bar in 1995. She is fluent in Chinese, Malay and Indonesian.
