Biography: Insurance & Reinsurance

Rachel Levitan LLM is the founder and the joint senior partner at Levitan, Sharon & Co Law Offices.

The firm started as a specialist insurance and reinsurance law firm but gradually developed into other areas of the law with a special emphasis on litigation, including product liability, aviation and class actions.

The law firm currently represents most foreign insurers acting in Israel, either directly or indirectly by way of reinsurance.

Rachel is a graduate of Tel Aviv University (1977), where she received an LLM degree, summa cum laude.

Rachel has written many articles on insurance law, that have appeared in international publications and has published a book in Israel on insurance law. Rachel constantly lectures in professional seminars within Israel, as well as in international forums.

In recent years, Rachel has been mainly involved in complex claims involving financial institutions, as well as complicated D&O and product liability claims. Rachel heads the Israeli Bar insurance committee and is responsible for insurance conferences headed by the Israeli Bar Association.

Rachel also manages a TPA, which mainly handles liability claims. The TPA serves local insurers, as well as insureds with a substantial deductible.

Rachel is a member of the International Bar Association and heads the IBA senior lawyers committee. She serves on the board of the Herzliya Interdisciplinary Center.

Rachel has featured in several magazine articles that related to her professional achievements and to her ability to combine her personal life with a leading professional career.
