Biography: Trademarks

Clark Lackert is a partner in the intellectual property practice group at King & Spalding and serves as deputy practice group leader firm-wide and as the head of the group in New York. Mr Lackert practises primarily in trademark, copyright, domain name, licensing and anti-counterfeiting matters, with a particular expertise in the international area. He supervises the trademark searching, filing, maintenance, litigation and protection programmes for several Fortune 200 multinational companies. He has worked in numerous acquisitions and divestments involving due diligence for intellectual property assets and he counsels on general intellectual property management. Mr Lackert is also an arbitrator for the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO) in connection with internet domain name disputes and has been a consultant with the US Government on implementation of the World Trade Organisation TRIPs Agreement concerning trademark, patent and copyright issues.

Mr Lackert is listed as one of the Global Top25 trademark lawyers ("Best of the Best 2005") in The International Who's Who of Trademark Lawyers (2005) and as one of the world's leading trademark law practitioners in 2006. He has also been included in the New York section of the 2007 edition of the Best Lawyers in America guide. He is the former chair of both the copyright and trademark divisions of the intellectual property law section of the American Bar Association. At present, he serves as chair of INTA's geographical indications committee. Additionally, Mr Lackert is the president of the United States group of the International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property (AIPPI).
