Biography: Commercial Litigation

Daniel F Kolb has been a practising litigator and trial lawyer in both federal and state trial and appellate courts throughout the United States for more than 40 years. His practice has included a wide range of professional liability, securities litigation, general litigation and antitrust matters for various clients, including major accounting firms, industrial corporations and financial institutions.

Mr Kolb joined Davis Polk in 1965 and became a partner in 1973. He has served as head of Davis Polk's Washington, DC office and as practice coordinator of its litigation department.

He graduated from Holy Cross College in 1963 and received his JD, Order of the Coif, in 1965 from the University of Michigan law school, where he was a member of the law review.

Mr Kolb is a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers, serving for a number of years as national chair of the college's Access to Justice Committee. He has been a vice president of the New York bar, in addition to serving as chair of the bar's executive committee and its judiciary and litigation committees. He is also currently serving as a member of the board of the Legal Aid Society and has been a national co-chair of the Lawyers' Committee for Civil Rights Under Law and chair of the ABA antitrust section, Clayton Act Section 7 committee. Mr Kolb is a co-author of the chapter on professional liability in Business and Commercial Litigation in Federal Courts, prepared by the ABA's section of litigation.
