Known for his acumen with respect to global immigration, Lance has presented to the United Nations and has testified before the US House Subcommittee on Immigration and before the US Senate. He has also participated in numerous government panels addressing immigration issues and he has advised government committees with respect to best practices in the context of global immigration.
Prior to joining Fragomen, Lance was the partner responsible for global immigration at a Big Four accounting firm. Based in Australia, he represented large international companies with respect to in-bound Australian matters as well as global and regional immigration matters. Prior to relocating to Australia, Lance practiced US immigration law in California for eight years.
He advises and counsels clients across all industries with regard to global compliance with, and enforcement of, immigration laws and regulations; guides multiple international corporations in connection with the deployment of personnel to projects in various developing countries and emerging markets; analyses client needs in different global locations and formulates strategies to implement relevant client-specific service models.
He is a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association, and the American Bar Association. His publications and lectures include: 'Skilled Migration to India: Complex Procedures Await International Assignees and Their Employers,' with Nancy Morowitz, to be published in International Law News, American Bar Association, Spring 2009; 'The European Union: Immigration Requirements for New Member States,' Global HR News, Volume 5, Issue 3; 'Global Mobility vs. Border Security: International Developments,' with Careen Shannon, Global HR News, Volume 4, Issue 4; and he was the presenter of 'Managing Migration: A Comparative Analysis' and 'Regional Migration Management: A Focus on Labour Migration,' with Austin T Fragomen, Jr, International Migration Law Course at United Nations Headquarters, June 2007.
He has been listed in Best Lawyers in America, and named in Who's Who Legal.
He is admitted to practice in California and the District of Columbia, and is registered as a member of the Flemish Bar in Brussels. He is an attorney and counsellor of Law (Rechtsanwaeltin) (Frankfurt, Germany), and is a registered foreign lawyer in the United Kingdom, as well as a registered migration agent in Australia.
He was educated at California Western School of Law, JD, 1988, and the University of Witwatersrand, BA, 1985.
