Biography: Life Sciences
Gerry is a leader in Bird & Bird's international life sciences group and is regularly named as a leading IP lawyer in the life sciences sector. He specialises in contentious IP work and in commercial and regulatory matters for clients in the sector.
He obtained a PhD in physiology before qualifying as a lawyer, and has advised and represented numerous clients in the life sciences sector, from start ups to multinationals. He is a co-author of Patents on Biotechnological Inventions: The EC Directive (Sweet & Maxwell, 2002) and of Competition Law and Intellectual Property Strategy in the Pharmaceuticals Sector (Pharmaventures/Bird & Bird, 2008) and contributed to a chapter on biotechnological inventions in Concise European Patent Law (Kluwer 2007).
Gerry is a member of various sector and patent strategy committees.
