Biography: Competition

K T Jung is the senior partner of Kim & Chang leading the firm's corporate practice group and antitrust practice group.

Mr Jung practices in a wide range of areas of corporate law, with a focus on mergers and acquisitions and antitrust law. He also has extensive experience advising clients in the pharmaceutical, IT, energy and automobile industries.

Mr Jung began his antitrust practice in 1980, when Korea's antitrust law was first enacted. He was the pioneer in this area, being for many years the sole practitioner with the knowledge and experience to advise and represent clients before the Korea Fair Trade Commission (FTC) on cartel and abuse of dominance cases as well as merger filings. After studying US antitrust law and corporations law from 1985 to 1986 at Harvard Law School's LLM programme, Mr Jung returned to practice at Kim & Chang. Under his leadership, the firm's antitrust practice group has since become the preferred counsel for antitrust defence work.

With over three decades of practice, Mr Jung has represented many of the world's most prominent companies. He has assisted these and many other companies in establishing their Korean operations; guided many through corporate restructuring; advised on important corporate governance issues; defended in antitrust and fair trade investigations, and helped overcome regulatory hurdles.

Mr Jung has won many notable awards and citations for his distinguished service to clients. He was selected numerous times as a Chambers Global Leading Corporate/M&A Lawyer, a Leading Competition Lawyer by Global Competition Review, and as a Leading Competition Lawyer in Asia by AsiaLaw.
