Claire Jeffs was educated at Cambridge and the Free University of Brussels. She joined Slaughter and May in 1998 and became a partner in 2005. She is based in the Brussels office.

She has been involved in a large number of high-profile merger cases before the UK and EC competition authorities, as well as coordinating merger approvals worldwide. Recent transactions include advising INEDS on its acquisition of Kerling; GE on its acquisition of Smiths Aerospace; Boots on its merger with Alliance Unichem and its subsequent acquisition by KKR; Boots on the disposal of its Boots Healthcare International business; Exel on its acquisition by Deutsche Post; Euronext on its possible offer for the London Stock Exchange; and Cemex on its acquisition of RMC.

On the contentious side she has been involved in several cartel cases, including on appeal to the Court of First Instance and European Court of Justice in Luxembourg.

Claire is fluent in French and Russian and has good German.
