Biography: Insolvency & Restructuring

Pekka Jaatinen is the managing partner of Castrén & Snellman, the oldest and one of the largest leading commercial and business law firms in Helsinki, Finland.

Through his career he has specialised in corporate, securities and insolvency law. His practice is focused on the representation of institutional, high-yield and distressed debt investors and debtors in complex workout and insolvency matters. In recent years he has been deeply involved in large insurance transactions both in Finland and abroad. He has acted as the trustee and administrator of several large Finnish bankruptcy estates and restructuring proceedings (chapter 11). He is a board member of several domestic and international companies.

He has lectured in Finland as well as abroad on cross-border insolvency and Finnish restructuring legislation. He has been a co-author of several books, including Rescue of Companies and Directors' Liabilities in Case of Insolvency.

Mr Jaatinen is a member of the following organisations and associations: the Finnish Bar Association, the International Bar Association, the International Insolvency Institute and the International Association of Young Lawyers (AIJA).

Mr Jaatinen received his LLM from the University of Helsinki in 1983.

He is fluent in Finnish, Swedish and English.
