Biography: Competition

Inigo Igartua has been a member of Gómez-Acebo & Pombo since 1990. He was based in the Brussels office from 1990 to 1992, since which time he has been resident in the Barcelona office.

Mr Igartua was educated at the University of the Basque Country, 1988. He studied under a Basque government scholarship from 1988 to 1990. He was appointed special bachelor in European Law by the Institute of the Free University of Brussels, from 1988 to 1990.

He is general reporter of the International League for Competition Law, and a member of its bureau and council. He is a co-chairman of the IBA antitrust committee's legal practice division.

He is professor of European law at the High Institute of Law and Economy (ISDE).

Mr Igartua has advised Spanish and foreign companies on competition law in matters such as drafting and revision of all types of vertical contracts, mergers and acquisitions, investigation files and authorisation files, before the Spanish and European competition authorities. He has also advised on contractual litigation involving competition law matters in Spain.
