Biography: Competition

Franz Hoffet heads Homburger's competition law practice group. He graduated from the University of Zurich (Dr iur) and from the University of Chicago (LLM).

Franz Hoffet has extensive experience in domestic and European competition law. He focuses on merger control filings, the handling of multijurisdictional filings, on investigations of cartels and abuses of dominant positions before the Swiss Competition Commission as well as on civil antitrust litigation. He has represented a wide range of companies and trade associations in proceedings before the Swiss competition authorities.

He also advises clients on matters of European Competition Law including merger control filings with the European Commission. Other areas of practice include regulated markets and public procurement.

Franz Hoffet is the chairman of the Swiss Bar Association's Committee on Competition Law as well as a board member of the German Studienvereinigung Kartellrecht eV and of the Swiss Competition Law Association. He has published numerous articles on antitrust matters and he is a co-editor and co-author of one of the leading textbooks on Swiss Competition Law. He is fluent in German, English and French.
