Biography: Insurance & Reinsurance

Allan is a partner at Ince & Co. He has for some 20 years specialised in reinsurance dispute resolution, primarily in confidential arbitrations. His experience is broad based, encompassing disputes in the marine, non-marine and aviation markets.

Allan cut his teeth in reinsurance in the late 1980s on the various disputes between Pan Atlantic and Pine Top. Following his return to the UK in 1991 from an 18 month secondment to a major US insurance and reinsurance company, his focus was predominantly upon problems arising in the London market in respect of marine and aviation LMX business. In more recent years, his primary focus has been on London market problems arising out of the Personal Accident LMX spirals, the Unicover pool, and US workers' compensation business. Allan's current practice also encompasses significant debt recovery work from recalcitrant reinsurers, and advice in respect of substantive aggregation issues.
