Kai Hart-Hoenig graduated with a doctorate degree from the University of Frankfurt am Main Law School in Germany in 1983. He is a member of the Bar in Frankfurt am Main. Before setting up his own law firm, Kai Hart-Hoenig's activities encompassed the management of reorganisation projects for a major US multinational's German subsidiary; assistant in the Criminal Law institute of the Law Faculty of the University of Frankfurt am Main; prosecution counsel in major criminal cases relating to corporate crime. He was a partner in the law firms of Clifford Chance Pünder and Oppenhoff Rädler Linklaters & Alliance.
Kai Hart-Hoenig speaks regularly at international conferences and seminars and also lectured at the German Academy for Lawyers and to other entities. He is a member of the European Criminal Bar Association (vice chairman 2003-2008; currently chairman of the working group on antitrust), as well as member of the German Bar Association, Deutsche Strafverteidiger, Studienvereinigung Kartellrecht eV, the American Bar Association, the National Association of Criminal Defence Lawyers, the German-American Lawyers Association and the International Bar Association. He is also involved in legislative proceedings as an expert witness, inter alia, those which are conducted by the EU and the House of Lords.
