Biography: Mergers and Acquisitions

Richard Hall is a partner in the Cravath, Swaine & Moore LLP corporate department. Richard's practice focuses on mergers and acquisitions and corporate governance advice. His clients have included Air Products & Chemicals, Anglo American plc, Barrick Gold Corporation, Edison International, Integrys Energy Group, Noven Pharmaceuticals, Time Warner Inc. and Weyerhaeuser Company. Recently, Richard acted for the Strategic Transactions Committee of TXU in connection with its takeover by KKR and TPG.

Richard has also acted on behalf of Time Warner Inc. on M&A and regular corporate matters, including the recent alliance between AOL and Google. He also represented Banco Santander Central Hispano SA, as part of a consortium that also included Fortis NV and Royal Bank of Scotland Group PLC, in connection with its acquisition of ABN Amro Holdings NV.

Richard was cited as being one of the country's leading practitioners in the mergers and acquisitions arena in Chambers USA 2007: America's Leading Lawyers for Business. In addition, Cravath's mergers and acquisitions practice received a high ranking in the publication for being "knowledgeable and responsive, with excellent levels of service". Recently, Richard was named in The Best Lawyers in America 2007 as a leader in mergers and acquisitions law.

Richard was born in Melbourne, Australia. Richard received a BComm, with honours, in 1984, and an LLB with honours in 1986 from the University of Melbourne, and an LLM from Harvard University in 1988. He joined Cravath in 1988 and became a partner in 1996.
