A former director of the Advocates Society, chairing its Insurance Committee, Jamieson is a member of various insurance-related organisations and has taught the Bar Admission Course in civil litigation. He has lectured and published widely on insurance and litigation subjects, including speaking at or chairing conferences for the Law Society of Upper Canada, Osgoode Hall Law School, Federated Press, the Canadian Institute, Insurance Bureau of Canada and the IAAI.
Jamieson graduated magna cum laude from Princeton University (BA, 1971). He obtained his LLB from the University of Toronto (Dean's Key winner, 1974) and his LLM from the University of London, England (1975). He was called to the Ontario bar in 1977. For years he has been honoured with Lexpert's Most Frequently Recommended designation in commercial insurance and has been named as one of Canada's Leading 500 Lawyers (one of only 20 in commercial insurance and product liability).
