Biography: Insurance & Reinsurance

Eric Haab is a partner in the Chicago office of Lovells, where he concentrates his practice in the areas of reinsurance, insurance insolvency and financial services litigation. For over seventeen years, Eric has represented cedents and reinsurers in the US, London, Europe and Asia in the litigation and arbitration of complex reinsurance disputes.

Consistent with Lovells' insurance and reinsurance practice, Eric has litigated a wide variety of substantial disputes involving novel and cutting edge reinsurance issues. Eric is experienced in both the property and casualty, and life, accident and health reinsurance sectors.

In addition, Eric has been a leading member of Lovells' teams involved in complex, cross-border insurance insolvencies. Recent cases have involved worker's compensation carve-out spiral business, the reinsurance of a closed block of universal life insurance policies, medical stop loss treaties, various portfolios of personal accident reinsurance, the allocation of asbestos losses, a major cross-border insurance insolvency, a novel domestic insurance insolvency plan and environmental coverage issues.

Eric graduated from the University of Michigan. He received his law degree from Harvard Law School.
