Laurent has a broad range of experience in both EU and Belgian competition law, with particular expertise in the telecommunications, media and technology (TMT), energy and natural resources, and transport sectors. He has extensive experience in the cartel and merger control arenas and regularly represents clients in proceedings before national competition authorities, the European Commission and the European courts. He also has considerable experience of coordinating multi-jurisdictional investigations.
Laurent is the author of Telecommunications, Broadcasting and the Internet: EU Competition Law and Regulation, published by Sweet & Maxwell, which is currently in its third edition. He is recognised in his fields of expertise by each of the principal legal directories.
He was educated at the University of Liège, the University of Cambridge and Columbia Law School. Laurent speaks French, English, Dutch and Italian.

He also has considerable experience of coordinating multi-jurisdictional investigations.
His recent TMT experience includes guiding one of the largest broadband cable operators in the US through acquisitions of Belgium and Germany's largest broadband cable operators; advising a European telecoms incumbent on regulatory issues before the European Commission and national courts; a mobile satellite services operator in respect of obtaining operating licences for new satellite broadband services; and an incumbent telecoms operator on the scope of the EU Universal Service Directive in respect of a litigation before the European Court of Justice.
Laurent is the co-editor of telecommunications, broadcasting and the internet: EU competition law and regulation, published by Sweet & Maxwell, which is currently in its third edition. He is also contributing editor of the annual Getting the Deal Through: Telecoms and Media handbook and an author of the European Union and Belgian chapters.
He was educated at the University of Liège (Belgium), the University of Cambridge (UK) and Columbia Law School (USA).
