Laurent Garzaniti is a Belgian qualified lawyer and member of the New York bar. He is a partner in Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, based in the firm's Brussels office.
Laurent has a broad range of experience in both EU and Belgian competition law, with particular expertise in the telecommunications, media and technology (TMT), energy and transport sectors. He has advised a wide variety of clients in both the public and private sectors under the EC and Belgian merger control rules and in relation to inquiries under Articles 81 and 82 and equivalent provisions of Belgian competition law. Laurent is recognised in his fields of expertise by a number of legal directories including Chambers Europe, PLC's Which Lawyer? and The International Who's Who of Competition Lawyers.
A frequent speaker on European antitrust and telecoms regulatory issues, Laurent is author of a book published by Sweet & Maxwell entitled Telecommunications, Broadcasting and the Internet: EU Competition Law and Regulation, now in its second edition.
Laurent was educated at the University of Liège, Cambridge University and Columbia University School of Law. Laurent speaks French, English, Dutch, Italian and has a basic knowledge of Spanish.
