Peter Franklyn is chair of Osler's competition and antitrust law group, which is consistently ranked as a leading Canadian antitrust practice. Over more than 20 years he has built a reputation as a leading Canadian antitrust adviser specialising in complex mergers and acquisitions, strategic alliances, cartel defence and related class-action litigation, pricing and distribution matters, as well as foreign-investment matters. Peter has repeatedly been recognised as a leading antitrust adviser in publications such as Chambers Global: The World's Leading Lawyers for Business, The International Who's Who of Competition Lawyers, Euromoney's Guide to the World's Leading Competition and Antitrust Lawyers, Global Competition Review's '45 Under 45', Best Lawyers in Canada and Lexpert/American Lawyer Guide to the Leading 500 Lawyers in Canada.

Peter has represented leading Canadian and international clients such as General Motors, Procter & Gamble, Microsoft, Viacom, CBS, Paramount, Inco, Honeywell, Seagram, Novelis, Alusuisse, Cendant, Ingersoll Rand, Philips Electronics, and leading Canadian financial institutions, media, publishing, mining and steel companies in complex domestic and multi-jurisdictional M&A transactions. Peter has also acted as counsel in a variety of civil and criminal matters before the Competition Bureau, as well as acting as counsel to parties involved in various government investigations and related class actions.

As a former chair of the Canadian Bar Association mergers committee, he has been actively involved in policy issues related to the merger-review process in Canada.
