His various legal credentials include the unique, practical experience of residing for a year on a construction jobsite while analysing and preparing major claim proposals. In addition, he has defended against and prepared claim analyses under a variety of foreign, domestic, government and private contract terms and conditions. He also has helped to resolve contract disputes as legal counsel for the owner, contractor, architect and subcontractor in every conceivable forum including federal courts, federal and state Boards of Contract Appeals and countless forms of arbitration, mediation and alternative dispute resolution.
Mr Fitzgerald has been honoured with membership in The Moles and the highest peer rating given by Martindale-Hubbell; he is listed in The Legal 500 and Best Lawyers in America construction law category, and selected as a leading US construction attorney by Chambers and Partners. He is described by Chambers as having 'earned a prominent US and international reputation in the infrastructure field'. Mr Fitzgerald has also been honoured by the Washington, DC and Virginia Super Lawyers.
Mr Fitzgerald attended the College of William & Mary, where he received his BA and JD, with honours. Mr Fitzgerald was a captain in the US Marine Corps on active duty from 1969 to 1972, and reserve duty from 1972 to 1975.
