Biography: Capital Markets

Edward J Fine, a partner in Sidley's New York office, practises in the area of securitisation. Mr Fine has more than 20 years of experience representing issuers, underwriters and purchasers of mortgage-backed and asset-backed securities in the public and private markets. He regularly advises companies in the purchase and sale of assets as an alternative to, or in connection with, their securitisation activities.

During the course of his practice, Mr Fine has participated in transactions involving a wide variety of asset classes and structures. He works extensively with mortgage banking companies, mortgage conduits and mortgage REITs as well as commercial paper conduits. Mr Fine is also experienced in representing companies and underwriters in their general capital markets activities.

Mr Fine received his BA in 1976 from the University of Pennsylvania and his JD in 1979 from the Temple University School of Law where he was an editor of the Law Review. He is a regular speaker at asset-backed securities conferences in the US and Canada.
