Dick Favretto is a veteran of 15 years' service in the antitrust division of the US Department of Justice, culminating in service as deputy assistant attorney general and acting assistant attorney general, and more than 25 years of private practice focusing on antitrust law. His experience in government and private practice covers the entire range of antitrust and trade regulation issues, including grand jury proceedings and criminal litigation, civil trial litigation, appellate litigation including a US Supreme Court argument, mergers and acquisitions, Justice Department and FTC investigations, international antitrust matters, and counselling of businesses and trade associations on compliance with antitrust laws.

While in private practice, Mr Favretto has successfully defended major corporations in prominent antitrust class actions, including in the litigation resulting in last year's landmark decision by the US Supreme Court in Bell Atlantic Corporation v Twombly.

Mr Favretto received a BA degree cum laude from Iona College in 1963 and a law degree from the Catholic University of America, Columbus School of Law in 1966.
