Biography: Construction

Randall L Erickson is a partner in the California office of Crowell & Moring and chair of the firm's construction group. He has over 30 years' experience in the construction industry, representing clients in arbitrations, trials and mediations. In addition to his extensive experience as an advocate, Mr Erickson has served as an arbitrator, mediator and expert witness. He currently serves on the complex case panel at the American Arbitration Association. He has been actively involved in a variety of environmental remediation disputes.

Mr Erickson is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin at Madison, and Duke University School of Law, where he served as research editor of the Duke Law Journal. He served as a law clerk to The Honorable O D Hamlin on the United States Court of Appeal, Ninth Circuit.

Mr Erickson has served as the chairman of the legal advisory committee and member of the Legislative Committee for the Associated General Contractors (AGC) of California. He received the prestigious AGC Asssociate Achievement Award. He is a former vice chairman of the public contract law section's construction claims division, a member of the American Bar Association's forum on the construction industry, and a member of the Association of Trial Lawyers of America.

Mr Erickson has lectured and written numerous articles on construction claims, contracting and related environmental remediation issues.

Among many professional honours, Mr Erickson was recently named as a California Super Lawyer by Los Angeles Magazine in 2006 and for 2007.
