Prior to joining the firm in 1977, Mr Elrod served on the staff of the Federal Power Commission as a trial attorney for gas pipeline and electric utility rate matters (1974-76), and worked for a brief period at the Federal Energy Administration (predecessor of the Department of Energy) on crude oil pricing and allocation matters.
Mr Elrod is a member of the Energy Bar Association and was a director from 2000 to 2003. He is also a member of the Energy Law 360 editorial advisory board. Mr Elrod served on the board of directors for the charitable foundation of the Energy Bar Association from 2005 to 2008. He has also served on the advisory board for the Institute for Energy Law of the Center for American and International Law since 2004, and has been a member of the council group and vice-chair of the oil pipelines committee of the American Bar Association's public utility, communications and transportation law section since 2007.
Mr Elrod received his JD from Emory University School of Law in 1974 and his AB (cum laude) from Dartmouth College in 1971. He is admitted in the District of Columbia.
