Ira A Eddymurthy specialises in capital markets, banking, project finance, and tax law. She has been recognised as one of the top corporate, commercial and mergers and acquisitions lawyers in Indonesia by Chambers Global, Chambers Asia and Who's Who Legal. She is acknowledged as a leading capital markets lawyer by Who's Who Legal, Chambers Asia, the International Financial Law Review and The Asia Pacific Legal 500, and as a leading banking lawyer by Who's Who Legal and The Asia Pacific Legal 500.

Ira is one of the founding partners of Soewito Suhardiman Eddymurthy Kardono (SSEK), a full-service corporate and commercial law firm established in 1992. She has written and published many articles on Indonesia's corporate, banking and capital markets laws, most recently in The International Comparative Legal Guide to Corporate Recovery and Insolvency (2007), Getting The Deal Through: Securities Finance (2007) and Getting The Deal Through: Banking Regulation (2008). She also contributes to The World Bank's Guide, Doing Business in Indonesia.

Ira is a member of the International Bar Association and the Inter-Pacific Bar Association (IPBA). A regular participant and speaker at IPBA conferences, Ira represented the Indonesian jurisdiction for this body from 2002-2008. She is licensed as an advocate and an Indonesian capital markets legal consultant.

Ira graduated from the Faculty of Law of the University of Indonesia in 1984, was a visiting scholar at the University of California, Boalt Hall School of Law from 1990 to 1991 and attended the Academy of American and International Law in Dallas, Texas, also in 1991.
