Roy C Durling has been with Arias Fábrega & Fábrega since 1991. From 1986 until 1990, he practised law in New York with Haight Gardner Poor & Havens (now Holland & Knight LLP). He became a partner in 2001 and heads the shipping and transportation department.

Mr Durling's practice extends to all aspects of financing transactions including lease financing, asset and corporate financing and secured and unsecured loans. He also has extensive experience in corporate law, mergers and acquisitions, and bankruptcy issues. Among the many important transactions in which he has been involved in the last few years are: counsel to unsecured creditors of Global Crossing (2003); advised PK Airfinance US Inc with respect to a $130 million financing of aircraft leased to Copa Airlines (2006); advised Credit Suisse with respect to a $500 million credit facility to J Ray McDermott SA (2006); counsel to Scorpion Drilling Ltd in connection with the $500 million financing of rigs registered in Panama (2005 and 2007); counsel to Schahin Engenharia SA on the $800 million project financing for the construction of two offshore drilling units (2007 to 2008); counsel to Apollo Management LP in connection with the acquisition of Oceania Cruises (2007) and Regent Seven Seas Cruises (2008).

He graduated from Georgetown University (AB 1983) and Cornell University (JD 1986). He is admitted in New York (1987) and Panama (1992).
