Biography: Product Liability

David Dukes is the managing partner of Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough LLP with offices in Atlanta, North and South Carolina, and Washington, DC. He practises in the areas of pharmaceutical and medical device litigation, business litigation, and coordination of national litigation. He is the immediate past president of DRI and a past chair of the DRI Drug and Device Committee and the DRI Electronic Discovery Task Force. He has been recognised as one of the top 10 product liability attorneys in the world by the Guide to the World's Leading Product Liability Lawyers. He is also a past chair of the International Association of Defence Counsel's toxic and hazardous substances litigation committee. Mr Dukes is president-elect of Lawyers for Civil Justice and serves on the board of the National Foundation for Judicial Excellence.

Mr Dukes has served as national trial counsel in the pharmaceutical, computer, and consumer products industries. He has tried cases across the United States and has participated in arbitration cases in Geneva and Paris. He has also defended national class actions and multidistrict proceedings.

He is a member of the advisory committee of the Law Firm Pro Bono Project, Georgetown University Law Center, and a trustee of the Moore School of Business's business partnership foundation (University of South Carolina). He also serves on the board of visitors of Clemson University.

Mr Dukes earned a JD, cum laude, from the University of South Carolina School of Law and a BS in financial management from Clemson University.
