Laura is head of one of the largest niche immigration firms in the UK, with an associated office in New York that have been described as a "transatlantic powerhouse". Both offices provide UK and US immigration advice to a broad range of clients. Laura is the immigration correspondent for the Law Society Gazette and a contributor to Tottel's Immigration Bulletin. She is a visiting lecturer at Queen Mary University of London.

Having qualified as an English solicitor in 1989, Laura received an LLM in immigration from the London School of Economics (1996) and qualified as a US attorney in 2004. She established her own firm in June 2003 and opened the associated New York office in 2007. She has visited over 70 countries for business and pleasure.
