Biography: Management Labour and Employment

Salvador del Rey is Partner and Head of the Labor Law Department at Cuatrecasas and lawyer (admitted to the Madrid and Barcelona Bar Associations), Professor of Labor Law and Social Security at the Pompeu Fabra University (Barcelona), Director of the Labor Law Department of ESADE Law School (Barcelona), former Chair Employment and Industrial Relations Law Committee of the International Bar Association (IBA) and member of the Human Resources Section Board of the IBA. Director of the magazine online "IUSLabor".

His professional practice covers all employment and social security matters, mainly at international level, including downsizing and collective redundancies, labor aspects of cross-border mergers and acquisitions, collective bargaining, relocations and modification of working conditions, employment aspects of subcontracting and contracting out activities and the legal aspects of the introduction of new technologies in the workplace.

He has been a member of several expert groups formed by the European Commission and several Spanish ministries: Self Employment Legislation (2004/2005), Basic Civil Servants' Statute (2004/2005), mediation and arbitration measures in international labor disputes (2001) and transposition of the EU legislation on the transnational displacements of workers (1999).

He has written 20 monographs and more than 140 articles and essays for co-authored books and for national and foreign journals on labour law and industrial relations.

Professor del Rey attained his Doctor of Laws with special distinction (University of Seville); an MSc in industrial and labour relations Cornell University, NY, USA; and held a Fulbright scholarship from 1979 to 1981 and from 1989 to 1990. He was visiting lecturer at the London School of Economics (UK) and at the Industrial and Labor Relations School, Cornell University.
