Biography: Corporate Tax

Pieter de Ridder (born 1960) is a tax lawyer and partner of Loyens & Loeff and has been based in Asia since 1991. He currently works in the firm's Singapore office and has become one of the regional tax experts in Asia.

He worked as a local tax expert in Jakarta between 1991 and 1993, and in Hong Kong from 1994 to 1995, during which he did his China and Vietnam tax training. He has been based in Singapore since 1996. He specialises in Asian tax planning and covers a wide variety of business sectors, ranging from financial institutions, venture capital businesses, investment funds, real property developers, manpower service companies, construction companies to retail/wholesale businesses operating in one or more Asian countries. In this context he works closely with local tax and legal experts in the various Asia Pacific countries.

Pieter is a frequent speaker at conferences on Asian tax matters and is a guest lecturer on international tax law at the Flemish University in Brussels, where he teaches Asian tax law. He is a board member of the Singapore branch of the International Fiscal Association as well as a board member of the tax committee of the Inter Pacific Bar Association (IPBA) representing Singapore. He has written several publications on Asian taxation matters and is a member of the board of editors of the Asia Pacific Tax Bulletin (APTB), a publication of the IBFD.
