Before joining Linklaters in 2006, Stephen led the New York private funds and asset management practice at King & Spalding. Prior to that, he spent seven years in the Goldman Sachs & Co legal department where he served as the legal director to the firm's private equity group, one of the world's largest private equity fund of funds complexes, and as the senior attorney covering GSAM's direct hedge funds and institutional separate accounts. Stephen has specialised in private investment funds since the early 1990s and is a member of the Association of the Bar of the City of NY private funds committee; the ABA committee on private equity and venture capital; and the private funds sub-committee of the IBA. Stephen graduated cum laude from Princeton, received an M Phil in Politics from Oxford, and his JD from New York University.
