Marina Cousté became a patent and trademark litigator at the Paris Bar in 1977. She is well known among the French lawyers specialised in intellectual property. She has over 15 years' experience in patent, trademark and unfair competition litigation with special expertise in life science and industrial property issues, pharmaceutical and biotechnology patents and high-tech, and works with some of the world's leading pharmaceutical and life sciences companies as well as various leading companies in the electronics and telecommunications sectors.

She is managing partner of Howrey LLP's Paris office (formerly Cousté & Cousté), which has been involved in a number of the major patent cases in recent years. The firm also has a recognised practice in other intellectual property fields including trademarks, advertisement, new technologies and the internet.

Marina Cousté is a member of various professional associations such as the Association for Intellectual Property Protection (AIPPI), International Trademark Association (INTA), Association Française des Praticiens du droit des marques (APRAM), Licensing Executive Society (LES), European Patent Lawyers Association (EPLA).

Marina Cousté is a frequent speaker at conferences on various intellectual property and regulatory topics (EFE, AGIP, among others). She is co-author of "Plea of research in the pharmaceutical industry in France. A solution is still awaited", published in Patent World (June/July 2002), "Comments on the eventful life of SPC in France", published in Propriété Industrielle (June 2003), and "New French law embraces damages as deterrent", published in Patent World (March 2008).

Marina Cousté is a deputy member of the Comité Consultatif pour la Protection des Personnes dans la Recherche Biomédicale (CCPPRB) of Saint-Antoine's Hospital in Paris.
