Biography: Insolvency & Restructuring

Dennis J Connolly is the leader of Alston & Bird's bankruptcy, workouts and reorganisation group. His practice has focused on the representation of debtors, creditors' committees and other parties in commercial bankruptcy cases. Mr Connolly is a member of the American Bankruptcy Institute and a Fellow of the American College of Bankruptcy.

Mr Connolly has lectured across the United States on creditors' rights and bankruptcy issues relating to pre-packaged plans of reorganisation, bankruptcy litigation and other matters. His many publications include articles in the National Law Journal, Legal Times, the Bankruptcy Strategist and Norton Annual Survey of Bankruptcy Law.

Recent engagements include Refco et al, where he is representing hedge funds and other entities that deposited assets with affiliates of Refco, including Refco Capital Markets (RCM), in the bankruptcy cases of Refco and RCM; and Delta Air Lines, as special counsel relative to pension plan and employee benefit issues. In Galey & Lord et al, Mr Connolly served as co-counsel for these textile manufacturers in their bankruptcy cases pending in the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of Georgia.

He also served as a member of Alston & Bird's team supporting the examiner for Enron, in all aspects of the examination including - but not limited to - litigation involving discovery, disputes relating to the scope of the examination, fee applications and other matters involving the investigation. In addition, Mr Connolly has been involved in representing parties with claims against the FDIC and the RTC as receiver for insolvent financial institutions throughout the south-east United States.
