Biography: Competition

Paul Collins is head of the competition/antitrust group in the Toronto office. He specialises in the area of competition law, providing both transactional and general compliance advice as well as advice in the area of marketing and advertising law. Mr Collins also advises foreign investors in connection with the Investment Canada Act. His practice puts him in constant contact with the federal Competition Bureau, and he has appeared before both the National Transportation Agency and the Federal Court of Appeal.

Mr Collins is an active member of the Canadian Bar Association and the American Bar Association (antitrust law section). He is an Adjunct Professor at the University of Toronto Faculty of Law. He is on the executive committee of the Canadian Bar Association competition law section in the capacity of vice chair.

Mr Collins is representing Huntsman Corporation in connection with its proposed sale to Hexion Specialty Chemicals; BCE in connection with its sale to a consortium led by OTPPB; and has recently represented Pernod-Ricard, Nucor, Laidlaw and Carlyle, among others.
