Biography: Business Crime Defence

Jack Cinquegrana is co-chair of the litigation department and the government enforcement and compliance group at Choate Hall & Stewart. He is a veteran trial lawyer with over 25 years of experience in litigation and government enforcement matters.

Jack is a past president of the Boston Bar Association and a fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers and the International Academy of Trial Lawyers. The Best Lawyers in America lists Jack in the specialties of bet-the-company litigation, commercial litigation, corporate governance law, litigation: securities, and white-collar criminal defence. Chambers USA gives Jack its highest ranking in white-collar defence and government investigations. He is included in The International Who's Who of Business Lawyers and Massachusetts Super Lawyers Top 100. In 2009, Jack was appointed by the Supreme Judicial Court to serve on the committee for public counsel services, which oversees the provision of legal representation to indigent persons in criminal and civil cases in Massachusetts.

Jack's recent engagements include representation of companies and their officers in health-care fraud investigations conducted by the Department of Justice; SEC and state securities investigations; civil False Claims Act actions; civil and criminal federal tax investigations; export controls investigations; and litigation involving the diversion of corporate opportunities.

Jack previously served as an assistant United States attorney and as chief trial counsel for the Suffolk County District Attorney in Boston, where he directed a staff of over 100 prosecutors. Before joining Choate in 2001, he practised in his own firm in Boston.
