He served as president of the Boston Bar Association in 2007.
Mr Cinquegrana was an assistant United States attorney and chief trial counsel for the Suffolk County District Attorney in Boston, where he directed a staff of over 110 prosecutors. Before joining Choate in 2001, he practised in his own firm in Boston. He currently serves on the American Bar Association's nine-member criminal justice standards committee and on the American College of Trial Lawyers' Massachusetts State Committee. He was previously a member of the Massachusetts Sentencing Commission; co-chair for the Northeast Region of the ABA's White Collar Crime Committee; an officer and director of the Crime and Justice Foundation (now Community Resources for Justice) in Boston; and an editor of the Boston Bar Journal.
His recent engagements include: representation of pharmaceutical companies and their employees in investigations regarding marketing practices; companies and corporate officers in options backdating investigations; insurance companies in matters involving brokerage fees and alleged False Claims Act violations; one of Massachusetts' largest public technology companies in litigation involving diversion of corporate opportunities; one of one of New England's largest health insurers in a government investigation; one of the area's largest manufacturers in connection with a foreign tax investigation; officers of mutual fund companies in SEC investigations involving market timing and late trading; and bank and corporate officers in fraud and tax prosecutions.
Mr Cinquegrana has been a contributing author to the Massachusetts Superior Court Criminal Practice Manual and an Instructor in trial practice at Harvard Law School, the Department of Justice, and Boston College Law School. He graduated from Cornell University and Boston College Law School and clerked for Chief Judge Raymond J Pettine of the United States District Court for Rhode Island.
