Don is counsel and adviser to a wide range of the national and international insurers who carry on business in Canada in relation to all forms of insurance-related litigation. He is also counsel to a number of Canada's major construction companies, advising on a wide range of commercial and industrial construction projects. Don defends a wide range of sports-related litigation and has the current leading decision in Canada in connection with the law of waivers. He advises on all forms of professional malpractice litigation, including medical, engineering and accounting. He also advises on a large number of product liability issues connected with major project litigation files, often involving commercial and industrial product failure and duty to warn related issues. Don provides substantial experience in resolving matters during the course of litigation through alternate dispute resolution procedures, and handles both plaintiff and defence perspectives in all forms of complex personal injury litigation claims. He also handles major franchise related disputes between automobile and related product distributers and manufacturers of same.
Don received his BA in 1965 and his LLB in 1969 from the University of Alberta. He was admitted to the Alberta Bar in 1970 and was appointed Queen's Counsel in 1990.
