Biography: Product Liability

Simon Castley focuses his practice in the area of products liability legal work for the UK, US and European clients. He has worked extensively throughout Europe and the Middle East. His experience also includes litigation on corporate, commercial, matters together with work on regulatory affairs and liability advice.

Mr Castley, a UK national, is fluent in English and French, having lived and worked both in London and Paris. He is a member of the Defence Research Institute, International Bar Association, and is SHB's delegate at the Product Liability Forum, run by the British Institute of International and Comparative Law.

Mr Castley has spent a significant amount of time in the United States gaining experience of US litigation methods. He has been a litigator and adviser to clients for UK proceedings involving commercial, tort, contract disputes, asset tracing and insolvency. He has also counselled clients on documentary production, enforcement of judgments, collection of evidence and comparative view of legal systems.

Along with SHB partner Greg Fowler he is the author of 'Product Manufacturers, Take Heed: International Markets Bring International Regulatory Oversight, Safety Standards and Liability Concerns', published in both the Bloomberg Corporate Law Journal and the Bloomberg European Business Law Journal in 2007.

Mr Castley is the managing partner of SHB's London office.
