Biography: Trade & Customs

Donald B Cameron Jr is the co-chair of Troutman Sanders' international trade group with more than three decades of experience representing foreign manufacturers, foreign governments and US importers in trade disputes arising under the US countervailing duty law, the anti-dumping law and sections 201 and 301. He has particular experience defending clients in industry sectors that are politically sensitive such as footwear, lumber, textiles, electronic products, paper products and steel products. Don regularly practises before the US Department of Commerce, the US International Trade Commission, the Office of the US Trade Representative, the US Court of International Trade and the US Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.

Don also has extensive experience representing private-sector interests and governments in dispute settlement proceedings before the World Trade Organisation and its predecessor, the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade in Geneva. He has also defended clients in NAFTA chapter 19 proceedings and has argued before NAFTA panels. Don and his partner Julie Mendoza also advised the government of Korea in the successful WTO challenges to the US safeguard actions on line pipe and certain steel products (AB-2001-9 and AB-2003-3).

Don is a member of the District of Columbia Bar, US Court of International Trade and US Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, the Court of International Trade advisory committee and the American Bar Association.

Don received his LLM from the Programme on International Legal Cooperation, Vrije Universiteit, Brussels; his JD from Vanderbilt University; and his BA from Kenyon College.
