Biography: Trade & Customs

Ana Caetano is the partner responsible for the international trade practice at Veirano Advogados (VA). She is located in VA's São Paulo office where she works on trade remedy cases before the Brazilian Department of Commerce (DECOM), representing foreign producers and exporters, importers and domestic industries. Ana also provides consulting services to clients on trade-related issues at local, regional and multilateral levels, assisting companies and associations in representing their interests in the negotiations of free trade agreements, such as the Free Trade Area of the Americas (FTAA) and the Mercosur and European Union Free Trade Agreement (Mercosur - EU).

Ana has successfully represented associations in disputes before the Dispute Settlement Body (DSB) of the World Trade Organization (WTO), and under her leadership VA became the first Brazilian law firm to assist the Brazilian government in a WTO dispute.

She has a law degree from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro Law School and an LLM at Georgetown University Law Center. Prior to her arrival at VA, Ana worked as a trade consultant at a prestigious law firm in Washington, DC.
