Biography: Competition

Roxane C Busey is a partner in the Chicago office of Baker & McKenzie where she focuses on antitrust and competition law. She served as chair of the ABA section of antitrust law in 2001-2002 and as chair of the section's task force on the modernisation commission from 2004-2007. She also served on the section's special task forces to the Clinton Transition Team and to the Bush Transition Team.

Ms Busey has been regularly recognised as a leading antitrust authority by Chambers USA America's Leading Business Lawyers; The Best Lawyers in America; Who's Who in America; Competition & Antitrust Expert Guide; Global Counsel, Competition Law Handbook; Guide to the World's Leading Competition and Antitrust Lawyers; and Illinois Leading Lawyers Network.

Ms Busey has obtained merger clearance from the FTC or the Justice Department for transactions in the consumer products, office equipment, insurance, telecommunications, natural gas, health care, and ATM industries. She recently served as one of the lead counsel defending the National Resident Matching Program in an antitrust class action lawsuit involving most of the nation's teaching hospitals. She frequently counsels on antitrust compliance, and in conjunction with the firm's global competition network of over 250 lawyers provides multi-jurisdictional merger control and other antitrust advice on a global basis.

Ms Busey earned a law degree in 1975 from Northwestern University School of Law. She is a frequent lecturer and author on antitrust issues.
