Jochen Burrichter has been a partner in the Düsseldorf office of Hengeler Mueller since 1977. He has also been actively involved in developing the firm's Brussels office since 1989.
Mr Burrichter received his legal education at the universities of Freiburg and Münster.
Jochen Burrichter specialises in all areas of European and German competition law, with special emphasis on merger control. He has been responsible for a large number of merger notifications to the European Commission and the German Federal Cartel Office and has also acted in various article 81 cases, namely cartel investigations. He represents clients before the Court of First Instance and Court of Justice of the European Communities.
Mr Burrichter has been a member of the board for many years (Vorstand) and now is an honorary member of the Studienvereinigung Kartellrecht e V (German Antitrust Lawyers's Association). He is a co-founder of the European Competition Lawyers's Forum and past chairman of committee C (antitrust) of the business law section of the International Bar Association. Jochen Burrichter is a co-author of the German commentary on EC competition law Immenga/Mestmäcker: EC Competition Law. He has lectured on German and European competition law at various international competition conferences and has published several articles on European and German competition law.

Jochen Burrichter is one of seven partners in the firm's competition group which operates out of Düsseldorf, Frankfurt and Brussels and covers all areas of competition and regulatory matters.
