Biography: Product Liability
Ina Brock heads Lovells' product liability practice in Germany, which was awarded 'Product Liability Firm of the Year 2003/2004' in the Juve Handbuch Wirtschaftskanzleien, the leading directory of law firms in Germany, and was again placed in the first tier in 2006/2007.Ina advises and represents German and international clients in connection with all types of product safety issues, active defence strategies, settlement negotiations, liability litigation, crisis communication and insurance issues. Ina also has extensive experience in coordinating multi-jurisdiction and multiparty product liability litigation.
In addition to advising clients in the automotive, aviation and consumer products industries, Ina represents clients from the pharmaceutical industry on a regular basis. Examples of her recent work include the coordination of criminal and civil proceedings in relation to contaminated blood products, product liability litigation in Germany for various major US and European manufacturers of pharmaceuticals (eg vaccines, blood products and antibodies) and advising on international pharmaceutical product recall defence strategies.
Ina has litigated various other issues including unfair competition and compliance, regulatory and commercial matters.
Ina is a member of the Defence Research Institute's international legal issues litigation group and has been appointed chair of the German Steering Committee of DRI Europe in April 2007. She is also an author of numerous publications on product liability law issues and assisted in the conduct of a major study on the practical operation of product liability laws throughout the EU and the feasibility of greater harmonisation of those laws in the instruction of the European Commission.
