Biography: Private funds

Stephanie R Breslow is a partner in the corporate department of Schulte Roth & Zabel LLP, where she concentrates in investment management. Her practice includes private-equity funds (LBO, mezzanine, distressed, real estate and venture) and liquid-securities funds (including hedge funds and hybrid funds). She also represents fund sponsors and institutional investors with seed-capital investments in fund managers and acquisitions of interests in investment-management businesses. She regularly represents fund of funds and other institutional investors with review of fund investments.

A Harvard University graduate, Ms Breslow received her law degree from Columbia University where she was a Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar. She is on the executive committee of New York's Private Investment Fund Forum and is a past board member of the Wall Street Hedge Fund Forum. She served on the Corporation Law Committee, and the Committee on the Revised Uniform Partnership Act of the New York City Bar Association, and as chair of the association's subcommittee on business trusts.

Ms Breslow co-authored 'Hedge Funds in Private Equity' for Cross Border Handbooks' Private Equity 2005-2006, New York and Delaware Business Entities: Choice, Formation, Operation, Financing and Acquisitions, and New York Limited Liability Companies: A Guide to Law and Practice, both published by West Publishing Company. She is authoring a private equity textbook to be published by PLI.
