Biography: Real Estate

Hamith Breedveld is a civil law notary and member of the real estate practice group. He specialises in project development, complicated real estate transactions and reorganisations as well as in the area of real estate-related corporate law. His clients include large municipalities in the Netherlands, large project developers and several institutional investors. In 1978 he started as a young lawyer with Westbroek Notarissen (later De Brauw Blackstone Westbroek). In 1987 he became a partner at that law firm and was appointed civil law notary.

Hamith is a frequent lecturer on real estate themes, including lectures about the combat of real estate fraud. He has lectured at the University of Amsterdam, Amsterdam School of Real Estate (ASRE) since 1992. This course is meant for postgraduates who want to get an MRE degree (Master of Real Estate). In 2006, on the occasion of the ASRE's 15th anniversary, he was elected by all alumni as the 'best lecturer' of this institute. Since 2005 he is also a lecturer at the Grotius Academy.

Hamith's specialist areas include: privatisation, corporate restructuring, strategic alliance and joint ventures, financial restructuring, project financing, investment funds, financing, lease operations, portfolio transactions, project development, public-private cooperation and property funds.

Hamith is a member of the Urban Land Institute, Stichting Hoogbouw ("Foundation of Tall Buildings"), Van der Leeuwkring, Raad van Advies Vereniging Jonge Onroerend Goed Juristen and a jury member of the VOGON PropertyNL Research Award.

He completed his law study at the Erasmus University of Rotterdam in 1975 and graduated in notarial law at the University of Leiden in 1978.
