Rachel Brandenburger is a partner in Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer and works in the firm's Brussels and London offices.

She has led many cases in front of both the European Commission and the antitrust and sector-specific authorities in the UK and the rest of the EU. She has advised TMT clients in relation to a number of ground-breaking mergers and strategic alliances; on complaints against anti-competitive practices; on privatisations; on the creation and flotation of companies; on UMTS and other auctions; and in relation to licensing, interconnection, litigation and other antitrust and regulatory issues.

Rachel speaks and writes regularly on TMT antitrust and regulatory issues. She is the consulting editor (jointly with Natasha Good) of Getting the Deal Through: Telecoms and Media, currently in its ninth edition. Rachel is listed as a leading antitrust and regulatory lawyer in many guides and directories. She is a member of the American Bar Association's international task force and of the IBA's extraterritorial jurisdiction task force; and has previously been one of the UK Department of Trade and Industry's panel of experts on the modernisation of EU law and chair of the UK Law Society's European group.

Rachel Brandenburger is a partner in the Brussels and London offices of Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer. She is a member of the firm's antitrust, competition and trade (ACT) group.

She has led many cases in front of the European Commission and UK regulators. Her major cases include EC Merger Regulation (first and second stage) inquiries; inquiries under articles 81 and 82 of the EC Treaty into anti-competitive practices, dominant positions and cartels; and proceedings before the European Court of Justice. In the UK, her cases involve inquiries by the Office of Fair Trading, the Competition Commission and the industry-specific regulators (eg, Ofcom, Ofgem and Ofwat). She has also advised on UK High Court judicial review proceedings against some of the UK regulators.

Rachel is listed as a leading antitrust and regulatory lawyer in many guides and directories. She is a member of the American Bar Association's international task force and of the IBA's extraterritorial jurisdiction task force; and has previously been one of the UK Department of Trade and Industry's panel of experts on the modernisation of EU law and chair of the UK Law Society's European group.

Rachel is a frequent speaker on antitrust and regulatory issues in Europe, the US and Canada, and is the author or co-author of many papers and publications concerning antitrust and regulatory law. She is also a member of the editorial boards of Competition Policy International and the IBA's Competition Law International.

She received a degree in Jurisprudence from the University of Oxford (St Hilda's College). She is admitted as a solicitor in England and Wales and is an associate member of the Brussels Bar.
